ReceiptWala — Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-08-19 Last updated: 2026-08-19

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ReceiptWala Android app ("the app", "the Service"). By installing or using the app you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. The Service

ReceiptWala lets you capture receipts, extract Indian GST fields using on-device OCR, organise expenses, generate reports, and optionally back up data to your own Google Drive. The app is provided for users in India and is intended for adults.

3. Accounts

You may use the core features of the app without an account. An account (created via phone OTP, Google Sign-In, email/password, or Truecaller) is required only for cloud backup, restore, and subscription management. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account.

4. Premium subscriptions and billing

4.1 Plans

ReceiptWala offers optional auto-renewing Premium subscriptions: - Monthly — ₹99 per month. - Annual — ₹799 per year.

Prices are set in the Google Play Store and may change; you will be notified of changes as required by Google Play.

4.2 Purchase and renewal

Subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play Billing. They renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play Store subscriptions settings.

4.3 Plan changes

If you switch from the monthly to the annual plan, the change applies immediately with a pro-rated time adjustment, as handled by Google Play.

4.4 Refunds

Refunds are handled under Google Play's standard policy. ReceiptWala does not separately process refunds; refund requests are made through Google Play.

4.5 Grace period

If a renewal payment fails, Premium features remain available for a short grace period. If payment is not resolved, the account reverts to the free tier.

4.6 Free tier limits

The free tier allows scanning a limited number of receipts per month. Premium removes this limit and unlocks advanced GST reports.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: - use the app for unlawful purposes or to process data you have no right to process; - reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app except as permitted by law; - attempt to circumvent subscription limits or security controls.

6. OCR accuracy — your responsibility to verify

ReceiptWala uses automated optical character recognition to read receipts. OCR results, extracted GST fields, and generated reports may contain errors. They are provided as a convenience and are not tax, accounting, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for verifying all figures — including any data used for GST filing or tax purposes — against your original receipts and invoices before relying on them.

7. Intellectual property

The app, its design, and its content (excluding your receipts and data) are owned by ReceiptWala and its licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for personal expense management. Your receipts and data remain yours.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReceiptWala is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on OCR results or generated reports, or from loss of data. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if required by law.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
